Rondo Plateau & Forest Reserve
The Rondo Plateau is a high and extensive massif partly protected by the Rondo Forest Reserve. The approach road, an adventure in itself, arrives at a remote old plantation which was converted to a Mission and Theological College in the 1960s. The octagonal church has superb stained glass windows and fantastic views of the plateau and down the escarpment to the forest.
Overlook the 18 square kilometre closed canopy forest, or adventure into the cavernous tangle of ferns, vines and semi-deciduous mature hardwords, including Teak and Mahogany. There are various monkey species in the forest including the Rondo dwarf galago which was discovered here in the 1990’s.
